Tahukah Anda? Para Pejuang Kemerdekaan Itu Adalah Santri


Santri pondok pesantren itu ampuh. Di tanah Jawa ini, yang paling ditakuti (penjajah) Belanda adalah santri dan tarekat (thariqah).
Ada seorang santri yang juga penganut thariqah, namanya Abdul Hamid. Ia lahir di Dusun Tegalrejo, Kecamatan Tegalrejo, Yogyakarta. Mondok pertama kali di Tegalsari, Jetis, Ponorogo kepada KH. Hasan Besari. (KH Hasan Besari adalah peletakdasar pendirian Pesantren Gontor).
Abdul Hamid ngaji kitab kuning kepada Kyai Taftazani Kertosuro. Ngaji Tafsir Jalalain kepada KH Baidlowi Bagelen yang dikebumikan di Glodegan, Bantul, Jogjakarta. Terakhir Abdul Hamid ngaji ilmu hikmah kepada KH. Nur Muhammad Ngadiwongso, Salaman, Magelang.
Di daerah eks-Karesidenan Kedu (Temanggung, Magelang, Wonosobo, Purworejo, Kebumen), nama KH. Nur Muhammad yang masyhur ada dua, yang satu KH. Nur Muhammad Ngadiwongso, Salaman, Magelang dan satunya lagi KH. Nur Muhammad Alang-alang Ombo, Pituruh, yang banyak menurunkan kyai di Purworejo.
Abdul Hamid sangat berani dalam berperang melawan penjajah Belanda selama 5 tahun, 1825-1830 M.
Abdul Hamid wafat dan dikebumikan di Makassar, dekat Pantai Losari. Abdul Hamid adalah putra Sultan Hamengkubuwono ke-III.
Abdul Hamid patungnya memakai jubah dipasang di Alun-alun kota Magelang. Menjadi nama Kodam dan Universitas di Jawa Tengah. Terkenal dengan nama Pangeran Diponegoro.
Belanda resah menghadapi perang Diponegoro. Dalam kurun 5 tahun itu, uang kas Hindia Belanda habis, bahkan punya banyak hutang luar negeri.
Nama aslinya Abdul Hamid. Nama populernya Diponegoro. Adapun nama lengkapnya adalah Kyai Haji (KH) Bendoro Raden Mas Abdul Hamid Ontowiryo Mustahar Herucokro Senopati Ing Alogo Sayyidin Pranotogomo Amirul Mu’minin Khalifatullah Tanah Jawi Pangeran Diponegoro Pahlawan Goa Selarong.
Maka jika Anda pergi ke Magelang dan melihat kamar Diponegoro di eks-Karesidenan Kedu, istilah sekarang di Bakorwil, ada 3 peninggalan Diponegoro: al-Quran, Tasbeh dan Taqrib (kitab Fath al-Qarib).
Kenapa Al-Quran? Diponegoro adalah seorang Muslim. Kenapa tasbih? Diponegoro seorang ahli dzikir, dan bahkan penganut thariqah.
Habib Luthfi bin Ali bin Yahya Pekalongan mengatakan bahwa Diponegoro seorang mursyid Thariqah Qadiriyyah. Selanjutnya yang ketiga, Taqrib matan Abu Syuja’, yaitu kitab kuning yang dipakai di pesantren bermadzhab Syafi’i.
Saya sangat menghormati dan menghargai orang yang berbeda madzhab dan pendapat. Akan tetapi, tolong, sejarah sampaikan apa adanya.
Jangan ditutup-tutupi bahwa Pangeran Diponegoro bermadzhab Syafi’i. Maka 3 tinggalan Pangeran Diponegoro ini tercermin dalam pondok-pondok pesantren.
Dulu ada tokoh pendidikan nasional bernama Douwes Dekker. Siapa itu Douwes Dekker? Danudirja Setiabudi. Mereka yang belajar sejarah, semuanya kenal. (Leluhur) Douwes Dekker itu seorang Belanda yang dikirim ke Indonesia untuk merusak bangsa kita.
Namun ketika Douwes Dekker berhubungan dengan para kyai dan santri, mindset-nya berubah, yang semula ingin merusak kita justru bergabung dengan pergerakan bangsa kita.
Bahkan kadang-kadang Douwes Dekker, semangat kebangsaannya melebihi bangsa kita sendiri.
Douwes Dekker pernah berkata dalam bukunya: “Kalau tidak ada kyai dan pondok pesantren, maka patriotisme bangsa Indonesia sudah hancur berantakan.”
Siapa yang berbicara? Douwes Dekker, orang yang belum pernah nyantri di pondok pesantren. Seumpanya yang berbicara saya, pasti ada yang berkomentar: “Hanya biar pondok pesantren laku.”
Tapi kalau yang berbicara orang “luar”, ini temuan apa adanya, tidak dibuat-buat. Maka, kembalilah ke pesantren. Ki Hajar Dewantara (Suwardi Suryaningrat) itu adalah santri. Tidak hanya Diponegoro anak bangsa yang dididik para ulama menjadi tokoh bangsa.
Di antaranya, di Jogjakarta ada seorang kyai bernama Romo Kyai Sulaiman Zainudin di Kalasan Prambanan. Punya santri banyak, salah satunya bernama Suwardi Suryaningrat.

aningrat ini kemudian oleh pemerintah diangkat menjadi Bapak Pendidikan Nasional yang terkenal dengan nama Ki Hajar Dewantara.

Jadi, Ki Hajar Dewantara itu santri, ngaji, murid seorang kyai. Sayangnya, sejarah Ki Hajar mengaji al-Quran tidak pernah diterangkan di sekolah-sekolah, yang diterangkan hanya Ing Ngarso Sun Tulodo, Ing Madyo Mangun Karso, Tut Wuri Handayani. Itu sudah baik, namun belum komplit. Belum utuh.
Maka nantinya, untuk rekan-rekan guru, mohon diterangkan bahwa Ki Hajar Dewantara selain punya ajaran Tut Wuri Handayani, juga punya ajaran al-Quran al-Karim.
Sayyid Husein al-Mutahhar adalah cucu nabi yang patriotis. Malah-malah, ketika Indonesia merdeka, ada sayyid warga Kauman Semarang yang mengajak bangsa kita untuk bersyukur.
Sang Sayyid tersebut menyusun lagu Syukur. Dalam pelajaran Sekolah Dasar disebutkan Habib Husein al-Mutahar yang menciptakan lagu Syukur.
Beliau adalah Pakdenya Habib Umar Muthahar SH Semarang. Jadi, yang menciptakan lagu Syukur yang kita semua hafal adalah seorang sayyid, cucu baginda Nabi Saw. Mari kita nyanyikan bersama-sama:
Dari yakinku teguh
Hati ikhlasku penuh
Akan karuniaMu
Tanah air pusaka
Indonesia merdeka
Syukur aku sembahkan
Ke hadiratMu Tuhan

Itu yang menyusun cucu Nabi, Sayyid Husein Muthahar, warga Kauman Semarang. Akhirnya oleh pemerintah waktu itu diangkat menjadi Dirjen Pemuda dan Olahraga.
Terakhir oleh pemerintah dipercaya menjadi Duta Besar di Vatikan, negara yang berpenduduk Katholik. Di Vatikan, Habib Husein tidak larut dengan kondisi, malah justru membangun masjid. Hebat.
Malah-malah, Habib Husein Muthahar menyusun lagu yang hampir se-Indonesia hafal semua. Suatu ketika Habib Husein Muthahar sedang duduk, lalu mendengar adzan shalat Dzuhur.
Sampai pada kalimat hayya ‘alasshalâh, terngiang suara adzan. Sampai sehabis shalat berjamaah, masih juga terngiang.
Akhirnya hatinya terdorong untuk membuat lagu yang cengkoknya mirip adzan, ada “S”nya, “A”nya, “H”nya. Kemudian pena berjalan, tertulislah:

Itulah hari kemerdekaan kita
Hari merdeka Nusa dan Bangsa
Hari lahirnya Bangsa Indonesia
Merdeka
Sekali merdeka tetap merdeka
Selama hayat masih di kandung badan
Kita tetap setia, tetap setia
Mempertahankan Indonesia
Kita tetap setia, tetap setia
Membela Negara kita.

Maka peran para kyai dan para sayyid tidak sedikit dalam pembinaan patriotisme bangsa. Jadi, Anda jangan ragu jika hendak mengirim anak-anaknya ke pondok pesantren.
Malahan, Bung Karno, ketika mau membaca teks proklamasi di Pegangsaan Timur Jakarta, minta didampingi putra kyai. Tampillah putra seorang kyai, dari kampung Batuampar, Mayakumbung, Sumatera Barat. Siapa beliau?
H. Mohammad Hatta putra seorang kyai. Bung Hatta adalah putra Ustadz Kiai Haji Jamil, Guru Thariqah Naqsyabandiyyah Kholidiyyah.
Sayang, sejarah Bung Hatta adalah putra kyai dan putra penganut thariqah tidak pernah dijelaskan di sekolah, yang diterangkan hanya Bapak Koperasi.
Mulai sekarang, mari kita terangkan sejarah dengan utuh. Jangan sekali-kali memotong sejarah. Jika Anda memotong sejarah, suatu saat, sejarah Anda akan dipotong oleh Allah SWT. Akhirnya, Bung Hatta menjadi Wakil Presiden pertama.
Pesan Penting Bagi Santri, Belajar dari Mbah Mahrus Aly. Maka, jangan berkecil hati mengirim putra-putri Anda di pondok-pesantren.
Santri-santri An-Nawawi di tempat saya, saya nasehati begini: “Kamu mondok di sini nggak usah berpikir macam-macam, yang penting ngaji dan sekolah. Tak usah berpikir besok jadi apa, yang akan menjadikan Gusti Allah.”
Ketika saya dulu nyantri di Lirboyo, tak berpikir mau jadi apa, yang penting ngaji, nderes (baca al-Quran), menghafalkan nadzaman kitab dan shalat jamaah.
Ternyata saya juga jadi manusia, malahan bisa melenggang ke gedung MPR di Senayan. Tidak usah dipikir, yang menjadikan Gusti Allah.
Tugas kita ialah melaksanakan kewajiban dari Allah Swt. Allah mewajibkan kita untuk menuntut ilmu, kita menuntut ilmu.
Jika kewajiban dari Allah sudah dilaksanakan, maka Allah yang akan menata. Jika Allah yang menata sudah pasti sip, begitu saja. Jika yang menata kita, belum tentu sip.
Perlu putra-putri kita dalam menuntut ilmu, berpisah dengan orangtua, untuk nyantri di Pondok Pesantren. KH. Mahrus Aly Lirboyo pernah dawuh:
“Nek ngaji kok nempel wongtuo, ora temu-temuo.”
(Jika mengaji masih bersama dengan orangtua, tidak akan cepat dewasa).

Maka masukkanlah ke pesantren, biar cepat dewasa pikirannya.
